Value is what a household receives for the total cost. A lower shelf price can be poor value if the package is small, quickly rejected or needs costly additions.
Calculate cost per 100 g
Divide package price by package weight and multiply by 100. Use the same currency and include sale conditions only when they are repeatable for you.
Consider usable servings
A cereal that goes stale or is left in the bowl has a higher real cost. Smaller packages can be sensible for occasional use or uncertain preferences.
Compare store brands fairly
Check the grain base, ingredients, package weight and serving basis. Similar appearance does not guarantee the same recipe, and different packaging does not guarantee different quality.
Watch the complete breakfast cost
Fruit, yogurt, milk, plant drinks and nuts can exceed the cereal cost. Compare the whole routine when budgeting.
