Cereal Allergens and Cross-Contact

How to read allergen statements, may-contain warnings, gluten-free claims and regional product differences.

Allergen safety depends on the exact package, production environment and individual medical advice. Never rely on a website summary or an old ingredient list.

Read every relevant panel

Check the ingredient list, contains statement, may-contain or shared-facility wording, and any certification mark. The layout and legal wording vary by country.

Brands differ across borders

The same brand name can use different ingredients or factories in different markets. A product safe in one country is not automatically safe elsewhere.

Cross-contact is not visible

Naturally allergen-free grains can be processed on shared equipment. Package warnings and manufacturer information matter more than assumptions about the base grain.

Use an allergy plan

People with diagnosed allergies or coeliac disease should follow the plan provided by their clinician and local allergy organizations. This site cannot determine whether a product is safe for an individual.
